Olive and Sinclair Chocolate

Monday, March 22nd, 2010

Java’s got some rocking new chocolate from an artisanal, Nashville based chocolatier. It is smooth and delicious and good for you. Dark chocolate helps the heart! Paired with a rich and creamy latte…Mmmmm.

No time…

Sunday, March 21st, 2010

It may be quite noticeable that all my posts of late are about eating out or other people’s food. I’ve had little time and even less motivation to cook lately. Soon though. Soon. I’m looking forward to canning already and planting my garden. I also have started juicing at the house and am excited to get creative with that. Stay tuned.

Everything Mushroom

Friday, March 19th, 2010

Do you like mushrooms? Not the trippy kind, but the eatin’ and cookin’ with kind. While the shop is not new to Knoxville, Everything Mushrooms does have semi-new digs on Sevier Ave in South Knoxville. They’ve got all this room to do what they like to call “science within a 10% margin of error”! Since Mockingbird is a big fan of science, fake or otherwise, we were super excited when there was a Bonnaroo Victory Garden meeting at their new shop. We got the full tour. They have room to incubate and grow:

And as Spring seems like it might actually arrive if the crocuses in my front yard are any indication, they are getting spawns ready for Shiitake workshops. There are 2 more workshops this month, for the full schedule: http://everythingmushrooms.com/shop/Workshop-Schedule.html

The Parlor!

Thursday, March 18th, 2010

I’m really excited for The Parlor to open. I’m pretty sure it will become the spot for North Knoxville, the food will be amazing and there will be a vintage music shop. It’s gonna be good all the way around.

In the meantime they are delivering brown bag lunches Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 11-1 for downtown and North Knoxville. You have to place the orders 24 hours in advance. Do it! They deliver right to your office or place of business. Options range from a vegetarian bean burger to a Peanut Butter and Jelly sandwich that I wish I could be eating right now to a Meatloaf sandwich.Check out the full menu.

It’s a great deal, good food and good people!

Benton’s for Purchase in Knoxville

Wednesday, March 17th, 2010

From Mary Constantine’s blog:

Robin Wheeler Lane, owner of Strawberry Fields Market at 3701 Sutherland Avenue ( 865-450-1196) is stocking Benton’s bacon in her store. If you drive to Madisonville you can get the bacon for $4.59 a pound. If you order it online the minimum order is 4 pounds for $21, plus shipping and handling.
Wheeler Lane is selling it for $7.69 per pound.

Also at the Strawberry Fields Market, boiled peanuts. When we bought our Christmas tree at the market they had regular and spicy. Plus other local canned goods. It’s a great market.
