Friday I met with my lovely friend for some lovely fried zucchini pickles suggested by another lovely cook. It was as you tell all around lovely.
The pickles are at the Night Owl Cafe in the Old City. The zucchinis come from Organicism farms.
The batter was perfectly crisp, the pickles looked like they were pickled with some tumeric or curry powder, they had that yellow orange hue. They were delicious. They were also early in the eve.
Once we were done having a lovely cocktail, it was too late to go anywhere for real dinner and my boyfriend was home already. Neither of us wanted to cook so (and here’s the telling on myself moment) I went to Food City to grab a frozen pizza where I hadn’t been for more than beer in while.
The frozen pizza aisle FREAKED me out. There were probably 40 or 50 different kinds of pizza to choose from. It was AMAAAAAAAAZING the number of choices. Unreal. Seriously, the Co-op has I think 2, at most 3 different kinds of pizza. I know this makes me sound pretentious, but I was honestly amazed at the number of choices. It was hard to make a decision, but, a decision I made and it cost a mere $6.79. It seemed like to me that if I had tried to make the pizza from scratch I would have spent 2 or 3 times that on ingredients alone…Amazing.
So forget the frozen pizza and go to Night Owl:
