The Second Annual International Biscuit Festival is less than 2 weeks away, May 27 and 28! Mockingbird has been lucky enough to sit in on planning meetings this year, but will once again not be lucky enough to attend since that’s when Mockingbird HQ moves to Bonnaroo land. So you all have to go for me! It’s the only answer. I want reports on the fluffiest biscuit, the most creative, the most mouthwatering. I will at least be able to day dream in Manchester!
The weekend is going to be jam packed with food events from the Blackberry Brunch to the Biscuit Bake Off, to the Biscuit Boulevard. MICHELLE BERNSTEIN will be cooking for the Biscuit Benefit Dinner. This fund raising event will benefit Share Our Strength and Second Harvest, working together to eliminate childhood hunger in our country.Â Chef Bernstein is a James Beard Foundation award-winning chef from Miami, FL, known for her Latin-style flavors of cooking. She’s been on Iron Chef, she’s written books, she has many acclaimed restaurants in Miami. This is a once in a lifetime chance. Mmmm.
Saturday will be jam packed with a what will be a lovely biscuit street fair. Begin your day with brunch prepared by Blackberry Farm. This will be a big ol’ time under the tent at the Krutch Park Extension. Then stroll around for the Bake Off, the Boulevard, the Mr. and Miss Biscuit contest, and end it all with The Black Lillies and Tift Merritt at the Bijou.
Summer is when Knoxville shines with events. This is one that I am very sad to miss.
